Type 2
I have type 2 , treated by insulin, Metformin and Jardiance. Over the last 12 months I have developed a problem with night time/early morning hypos. Basically in order to make sure I'm ok in the morning (say 7am) I seem to need a big supper - say 10 carb units. My diabetes nurse is struggling to help with this. Last night before supper I was at 12 mmol, I ate 10 carb units and this morning woke at 4mmol. I'm on 47 Lantus and about 30 Novorapid. Does anyone have any ideas ? - My own theory is that the Jardiance somehow processes the sugar our of my body whilst I am asleep and it is overdoing it. Thanks for any suggestions.

If you are going low overnight then it sounds to me like your lantus dose is too high

Thjat is my thoughts too, that it is likely your basal insulin dose is too high.
Have you been more active than normal recently? That has a big impact on my night time levels and I need to dramatically reduce my basal insulin as a result.
Basal insulin needs change according to a number of factors and your DSN should be able to advise you on a lower dose.
When do you take the Lantus? If you take it on a night then maybe a change to administering it in the morning instead might be another strategy to discuss with your health care professional particularly if your current dose of 47 keeps your levels steady during the day.
