so I've gone away for a few days, and got really tanned/ burnt.The weather hasn't been particularly sunny.... someone told me that diabetic medication makes you more sensitive to the sun! Anyone else been told this...

Apparently it does Becky.

On the MedlinePlus site, under "special precautions," it says:

"Plan to avoid unnecessary or prolonged exposure to sunlight and to wear protective clothing, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Glyburide and metformin may make your skin sensitive to sunlight."
 
I've not heard that before but quite a few medications make you sensitive to sunlight. Two of my non d related meds do!
 
I haven't noticed any difference
 
@Becky1984. Best to check the patient information leaflet with each medication you take. That should mention if the medication makes sunburn more likely.
 
I haven't noticed myself. I am a sun worshiper, I love nothing better than lying by a pool/beach in the heat sweating haha! I just have to watch hypos in the heat as my insulin works better. Keep telling my hubby that's why we need to move to tenerife!
