Hi @Rifkah , how are you getting on? Have you had more contact with your health care team since diagnosis?

I'm glad that you found speaking to the Samaritans helpful, and hope that the support on here will help you in knowing that Diabetes is manageable and that complications are not inevitable.

You might find it helpful to speak to our Helpline. They are trained counselors, with knowledge of diabetes, who understand the emotional impact of a diagnosis. From your other thread, it sounds like you're managing multiple health issues and the Helpline staff will understand how overwhelming this can feel. You can contact them here: https://www.diabetes.org.uk/how_we_help/helpline

It is also great that you have found this forum. There is always someone here, and we can offer you support whenever you need it. Whether you have a simple question or you just need to vent, we're here.

Perhaps you can let us know if you have been prescribed any diabetes medication, or if you are diet controlled? That way, others who are managing diabetes in the same way can share their experiences with you.

Please check your inbox also, I have sent some further info. 🙂

Hi @Rifkah i’m newly diagnosed too and every scary thought you can imagine when through my head in the first few days I’d had a heart attack and diagnosed with diabetes. Felt alone even though I had the support of my family. This forum has helped me come to terms with my diabetes and helped me understand. I hope you can find it as useful as I have. I try not to think of all the things that diabetes can cause and look more to how I can manage my diabetes to prevent them from happening. With the right support and help it does get easier.

@Rifkah there's always someone on here who's willing to answer your questions, so please never think you have to go through this on your own. We've all been there, and we know that there's a way out of the tunnel so please don't suffer in silence.
