Sugars not dropping on insulin!! Advice needed.

But the OP is not using bolus insulin and has high BG levels, so porridge is probably not a good option for them.
Sorry but how can you possibly know that?

Edited because that seemed a bit harsh when I read it back, my apologies!
I just have to question it though because as I said, I am fine with porridge and I know that others are aswell, so I'm unsure why everyone seems to advise to avoid it.

If the OP is waking up with BG levels already in double figures and then adds more carbs into their system, even if the porridge is slow release for them, their levels are almost certainly going to go higher, because their body is not managing to produce enough insulin to bring them down.
It would be a different matter if they weren't already on insulin and/or their levels were in range to start the day, but their levels are high to start and steadily rising throughout the day after food.
I did however include a "probably" in my statement.

But the point stands - porridge doesn't push my numbers higher so why is it "almost certain"?
What works for one will not always be the case for someone else

If porridge doesn’t push your numbers up, it means that your body is producing some insulin, which, with assistance from your meds, is enough to mop up the glucose from the porridge as it is slowly released into the body.
I think what people are worried about in the case of the OP here, is that she doesn’t seem to be producing or injecting enough insulin to cope with any carb that she eats, however slowly the carbs are released. Therefore, I think it’s true to say in the case of this OP, that porridge is almost certain to push her BG levels further up.
