uckily, I'm old school and cook meals from scratch so we know what's in them

I would say that short of medical intervention, cooking your own meals from scratch is one of the most effective ways of managing diabetes!

Just make sure you also count the carbs in the meals you cook too - there will doubtless be less added sugar and other 'nasties', but potatoes, rice etc. still contain a lot of carbs that need to be accounted for too.
 
Oh DeusXM - think I'm getting there and you bring another thought for me to deal with :-/ My head is spinning now - just going to do my best and hope that works. We're not doing too bad at the moment. Thanks for all your input.
