These last couple of days I have been struggling with more hypos than normal is this normal in hot weather? Also if I have a meal after correcting the hypo should I still give my insulin? As I'm struggling as I am correcting them then shortly after having another hypo? Anyone got any advise yet can give me I would be very gratful 🙂

Hi nic

I find I have a few hypos in the warm weather.

Have you reduced your quick acting?

Even after a hypo you must take your insulin, maybe try having your insulin mid meal after a hypo instead of just before.

Hope that helps 🙂

Thankyou well iv just had my meal and reduced my quick acting by 2 units and took it after my meal instead of before as I was a. Low and b. I tend to have highs after pasta if I take it before!

Thanks for your help this is all new to me

Hi Nic, perhaps consider reducing your long acting insulin (basal) 🙂 I've also had to change my carb ratio as well. Pasta is always a tricky food to bolus for at the best of time. Many find it easier to split their bolus some before and some after the meal. The pasta experts will be able to help you out with the timing of the insulin. I don't like pasta so can't advise 🙂

Thankyou 🙂 yeah it might be worth dropping it a little see if that does it I'm finding trying to maintain my blood sugars so much hard work I just hope with time it gets easier

Hi Nic, things do get easier as time goes by 🙂 No one ever gets it right 100% of the time. All you can do is the best you can. There's a couple of books on amazon that would help you greatly, think like a pancreas, and using insulin.
Heat does tend to play havoc with blood sugars :( Perhaps have a word with your DSN if you are not confident in what you are doing at the moment. If it where me I would be dropping my basal by 2 units and then waiting a couple of days o see what happens. Make sure you test plenty and also make sure you have plenty of hypo treatment handy. If still going hypo then drop another couple of units.

Thankyou I will invest in the books thankyou for your support 🙂
