Hi all

so I’m experiencing some majority erratic blood sugars at the moment and I can only put it down to stress... I’m going through a lot with my eldest (I’m in the process of trying to get him transferred to a new school but second guessing myself and panicking about the whole thing etc)....

anyway, the reason for this post. Is there anything I can do to help control my levels better. The anxiety etc is unlikely to go anywhere until I have this limbo situation etc resolved and he’s settled in the new school if we get a place and he doesn’t decide he’s going to hate me forever

Sorry to hear you are struggling :( It's hard to stay calm when you are under pressure, but remember that worrying won't actually change anything - easy to say, I know, but harder to believe and stick to when you are in the thick of it. Whenever I'm worried about something I try to concentrate on the day beyond when everything will be sorted by. Control the things you can, and try not to let your imagination run riot on the things you can't {{{HUGS}}} I hope everything works out well, and soon 🙂 My niece went through something similar recently and everything turned out for the best and her son is very happy with his new school 🙂

Yes - when your BG shoots skyward because of the stress, only correct with half the insulin you'd need for a normal high. It's very easy to get into see sawing BGs with stress.

Sorry to hear you are going through the stress grinder @grainger :(

Try to make sure you are making time for yourself during the difficult days ahead. I find getting out of the house for a short walk each day, especially if part of it can be somewhere green, can help me clear my head a little.

As TW suggests one of the tricky things is how differently my BG can respond day to day where sometimes stress has a major effect, and other times it does nothing - so it’s constant tail-chasing and fire fighting.

Try not to beat yourself up about highs readings.

Everything everyone has already said.

And try to focus on smaller things you can change rather than the whole situation
