Stir fry cooking

Where do you get your cauliflower rice from ?
Most of the big supermarkets sell it now, I have got it from our local Morrisons and Asda and Sainsbury.
It has very little taste, but a similar texture to real rice, so works well with sauses, etc. You can boil it or microwave it.
Plus its relatively easy to make yourself, just get a cauliflower and either chop it very finely or shred it on a cheese grater or finely chop it in a food processor. Hey presto, cauli rice.... 😎

It has very little taste
Maybe I was unlucky or maybe I am sensitive to cauli-flavour but when I tried it, I found the flavour dominated my dishes.
Definitely something to try as a rice alternative but not something for everyone. I chose to add more veggies and not worry about the rice or noodles.

The stir fry sauces I make are just a case of adding the ingredients to a jar and shaking it. Then pour over the stir fry once it is cooked. It is still one pot cooking but you may have to invest in a spoon to measure the sauce ingredients.

I can deal with that

I got some today , from Asda and Tesco

Plain , herb and tomato

I had it tonight with my stir fry ...details to follow ....I am not going to pretend it was perfect as a substitute but it did the job

Rice , chips , bread etc .....lovely .....but not a good choice for us

It is what it is etc etc

Tonight's stir fry

Was going to buy a ready made packet but had a bit of time so ....

Jumbo prawns
Spring onion
Mushrooms
Beansprouts
Broccoli spears pre boiled cut small

Used half a sachet of Asda sweet chilli sauce , with a splash of water , added a bit of extra garlic paste and a touch of chilli paste

Stir fried in rapeseed oil

Then microwaved half a sachet of cauliflower and tomato rice and added this to finish off

It was lovely and whilst the cauliflower rice would be a bland on its own it was fine in the stir fry and .....its extra veg

I can understand that but I find it was quite well hidden in the stir fry

But pouring a curry or chilli on a bowl of it might be a different matter

Have you tried the pasta , spaghetti, noodle substitutes ?

Nothing shop bought but occasionally have “zoodles” - spiralised zucchini/courgette. I try to avoid eating too much processed food.
To be honest, as my diabetes is treated with insulin rather than diet and I have no weight to loose, I do not need a low carb diet so happy with “real” pasta and noodles unless the “sauce” is too filling.

I grate cauliflower florets to make rice so simple and you could add just a spoonful of rice which I find helps with the taste. I find that you also need to use kitchen roll to soak up the water from cauli rice once cooked.
