Diagnosed last week after complaining to the doctor that I'd lost a lot of weight and my vision was playing up. They gave me gliclazide last Thursday, telling me to watch out for my blood sugar levels to plummet over the bank holiday weekend.
Well they haven't plummeted. I'm still reading around 15/16 first thing in the morning and then off the scale by the evening. I've cut out carbs and sugars and its made zero difference. Phoned the surgery first thing this morning to be told all their diabetes experts were off today so come in tomorrow as planned. Given how worried they were when I first went in over a week ago I'm feeling a bit abandoned.
At least the blurry eyesight has settled since I cut out the sugary drinks.
I have a feeling I'm going to feel awful when this is under control. Yesterday I could have sworn I was suffering from low blood sugar. I actually looked forward to sticking a pin in my finger - but it was 22, so only low by my standards sadly.
