Stay in hospital

In Scotland this problem is being addressed. A plan has been piloted, and is now expanding to every hospital, of basic diabetes training being given to every nurse on every ward, with a diabetes information pack on every ward. I will report on how this is going when I next have a holiday in Glasgow, which could be quite soon. It's a bit easier for me, being type 1, but I should be able to find a type 2 wandering around looking grumpy.

A lot of hospitals in England embraced the 'Think Glucose!' regime a long time ago, with a medical grade 'Hypo Kit' on each ward and one individual on every shift being the Named Person responsible overall for all that jazz for all the patients on the ward, overseeing the glucose tests done on Obs etc. Patient nameplates above the beds are also marked to identify diabetics as such.

I wish they did that round here.

Ours doesn't either! I saw it at Sandwell Hospital and they're part of another B'ham based Trust; plus I've seen it mentioned on various other hosp websites and publications when I've been looking for other things!
