You can only reduce your cholesterol by dieting by a maximum of 10 %, the rest is made in your body, which is what the tablets affect.

In my (limited) experience of Cholesterol levels I would disagree with the above quote. When I was first 'badged' my Chol level was 6.5 ..... 3 months later that is now 4.3 - a 30% reduction, and my Tri 0.8, and expected to fall further (according to the PN). This has been achieved without statins or any other form of medication, just eating an incredibly healthy diet - a far cry from my previous fare!

I suspect the confusion may lie in the fact that 80-90% of cholesterol is manufactured by the liver, so dietary cholesterol only contributes 10-20%. However, carbohydrates play a large part in how much cholesterol is produced by the liver, so reducing carbs can bring levels down by a greater amount 🙂
