Statins in type 1s with no complications... any thoughts?!

As I understand it 80% of cholesterol is made by the liver and not diet. But as well as reducing this cholesterol, statins also lower the production of Co enzyme q10, the energy enzyme, which accounts for much of the muscle problems of statins I expect.

Does anyone take Q10 to overcome these side effects?, thus would this go some way to solving some of the problem.

I understand that the CoQ10 isn't easily absorbed when taken orally but really at the end of the day total cholesterol shouldn't be used as a measure of whether or not you should take anything at all to reduce it. If your HDL is high and trigs are low it indicates that your LDL is benign and fluffy. Plus there is evidence that the morbidity risk in women past menopause is higher the lower their cholesterol.

Frankly Statins just made me completely woolly headed, I couldn't remember the names of people I knew well! Or I'd stop blank half way through a sentence because I didn't remember what I was saying, it was awful.
