Finally had the pleasure of a very long chat with my GP and came to realise she really does care about me. I was very lucky that it was actually out of surgery so had time to really discuss things and she initiated the conversation.
Had a long chat about how I am feeling and I confessed I haven't been injecting and haven't been back to see the consultant and basically am in denial that I have diabetes.
Finally got to the crunch that the Victoza has also been making me very sick and miserable (like the byetta) and for the first time anti sickness tablets were suggested. Why hadn't these been mentioned before and why hadn't I thought to ask. She also suggested monitoring me on a low dose for a long time before increasing. The consultant seems to have left me to it, whereas I should have had lots of follow up appts which GP thought I was having.
I have had my bloods done on Friday and go into surgery this week to discuss things fully.
GP agreed that it did appear through no fault of my own, my care had fallen through a gap and now I will be fully supported by her.
I feel so much better and did my first injection again yesterday and am back on all meds again.
I will be getting a prescription this week for anti sickness tablets, but just wondered is anyone else taking them and can I get them over the counter as already feel sick. She did mention travel sickness tablets may work also?
In talking I realised Victoza really did work for me, (no hypo's) but the sickness was just too much. I know I am hoping a lot that the anti sickness tablets work, but if they do, I think I may manage to stick to what I am told to do, rather than trying to battle alone, becoming depressed and giving up on diabetes totally.
Some times you could scream with this D thing couldn't you.
I am feeling much more positive today though and could actually hug my GP for just really taking the time to listen.
If anyone can advise on the anti sickness tablets that would be great.🙂
Thanks for letting me get it off my chest and here's to a new start.🙂
