blood glucose was 6.8 after dinner then had a lamb steak done in oven with 1 new potatoe & some tinned butter beans blood glucose after tea was 10.6 .where did i go wrong

Potato and butter beans are high carb, so you had 2 high carb veg, lamb steak fine. Some green veg, broccolli, courgette, green beans would be better than butter beans.
At least you now know they were not too good for your blood glucose.

How long after your tea did you do the test?

Yeah, my money would be on the butter beans too. Some of us seem able to extract more carbs from beans and lentils than they are supposed to contain. A small portion of the beans or a couple of small new potato but both together sounds like it is a bit too much for your system.

Keep in mind that, it’s not an exact science. I’ve often tested the exact same meal on different occasions, with differing results.
