Hi

Does anyone buy or recommend low carb food of special internet sites?

J had wraps last night for tea...pretty healthy with chicken and salad. He had 2 and they sent him a bit high (same as pizza...though not quite as high!)

I notice you can buy low carb food and wondered if this may be the answer! (don't really want it to be..it's quite expensive!)

Thank you

I wouldn't buy any 'special' food, it is merely a way of rippping people off. Instead I either choose foods that are naturally lower in carbs or just the right kind of carbs. For example if I would buy wholegrain bread or rye bread. So maybe you could try wholemeal wraps or perhaps a smaller portion might help. Could even be that you need to experiment with the insulin dose for the wraps.

I use Low Carb Megastore for my essential for life chocolate spread, syrups and atkins bars, they are a bit cheaper than Nutricentres etc, and I have found many alternatives to 'normal' foods. I know I can only stick to a 20-30 carbs aday diet for life if I dont feel deprived, so for me it is essential.

I dont eat any wheat, pasta or potato, white or brown, makes my sugars sky high.

ps.... doing a very low carb diet, with an average of (chinese or curry and rice...nom nom) 2x a month fails, my av is 6.1, my cholesterol is 4.3
my liver and renal functions are superb....it works.

I'm following a reduced carb diet but don't buy anything particular. I simply control the amount of carb I eat. Using alternatives such as sweet potato or celeriac instead of spuds, having wholegrain bread and reducing the amounts eaten, and having more veg to fill out the plate keeps me from getting hungry. I do miss things like chocolate, but even that I do have in small amounts, I like Green & Blacks dark chocolate which has over 70% cocoa and is therefore lower GI than most others.
