Speaking of meters

I have here an offer for a free Bayer Contour Next USB. Are they any good? I had a Bayer Contour (II, I think) in the early days but couldn't get on with it at all so I'm a bit reluctant to have a go and would lie to hear from anybody who's using one.

I've just started using one of these (over the past 3 months) and I really like it! Software's good and as it's a usb it just plugs straight in to the computer 🙂 Strips need only a tiny amount of blood. Nice big numbers, in colour on the screen. I would certainly recommend it 🙂

Only thing to add to Alan's comments is it a brilliant meter, the full software downloadable is a bit more configurable and allows you to import several Bayer meters into one report 🙂

It also uses a rechargeable battery, charges via your PC or via a free mains adaptor once you register the meter, there are several freebies you can order, especially if you keep the test strip packet tops.

The other thing as usual their customer service is excellent, if you ring Bayer they will send you a spare meter, either another next usb or the contour XT which uses the same test strips, I ended up with a spare next usb and a contour XT.

Mine actually came with the free mains adapter in the box 🙂 The charge lasts for ages too.
