Hi, My brother-in-law, Graham, is a 58 year old, learning disabled, type 2 diabetic and has 24 hour care in a Shared Lives placement. He was diagnosed 4 years ago and has taken medication for the diabetes since then and (recently prescribed) medication to help prevent heart attack. We live 4 hours away from Graham but continually support and enable him. We became aware that Graham has sores and bruises on his leg, a family member noticed it so we got her to send us a photograph. Based on the photograph, we asked his "carer" to take him to the doctors. The result is that Graham " has been scratching himself so much that he's made sores and bruises on his leg". Definitely nothing to do with his diabetes...............??????........I myself am amazed based on the limited knowledge I have........ Am I missing something? This has never happened before. We try to ensure Graham uses his E45 cream daily on his feet because he has (as a result of his diabetes) had toenails removed and has regular visits to the chiropractor..........sorry to be so long winded but my question is......How does the doctor know it is nothing to do with his diabetes just by "looking" at it?
