Thanks for the kind words send when I wasn’t feeling great mentally they really did help as did having a few days away from the internet.
I’m doing better now except I’ve woken up today with a raging sore throat and hardly any voice (great for hubby and kids who are pleased with the peace) I was wondering if I could have some advice on what to take? I’ve given in and had a strepsil just now was as I couldn’t take the razor blade feeling anymore. Sugar levels today were 6 after breakfast and strangely 6.3 after I’d been sick (which also didn’t help the throat) local shop didn’t have any sugar free throat sweets and I can’t face the drive into town so I figured one of these when I get desperate will be ok?

is it ok to take paracetamol? I read on the box you shouldn’t take ibuprofen if your diabetic?

I usually take Ibuprofen as my GP said it was fine. And I've had a cough recently (sore throat has gone thankfully) and found some sugar free Strepsils (strawberry flavour) in Boots.

Old fashioned remedy for sore throat was to gargle with warm water with a little vinegar and salt added.
There was another thing - it was used as an antiseptic for cuts and grazes but also as a gargle. Can't remember the name of it now though there was always a bottle of it in the bathroom at home, but that was long ago. Oh yes it was TCP, of course. Instructions on the bottle.

I’ve just gargled with dissolvable aspirin for my throat. I did the same at 430am and it’s just started hurting again. Hope you feel better soon.

Ohhh TCP! As I read your post, @Drummer, the remembered smell of TCP hit me like a sledgehammer! :D

Thanks for the replies. I love the smell of tcp I’ll give that a go.

hope you soon feel better also Bexlee

I have only to smell TCP and I can recall that huge chilly bathroom with the cast iron bath on curly feet, the black and white check tiles on the floor, the wooden hall stand which was used for towels and bathrobes - I was always climbing trees in the orchard and getting scrapes.
