Hi I just thought that I might share some startlingly good news with you.

Early in November I spent a week in hospital and was diagnosed with the condition type 1 diabetic, given some insulin injection stuff, a blood tester, and sent on my way with almost no information.

My HbA1c test result had been 130. I could not talk, walk, balance, and I felt awful.

At home after the hospital I sat there and went into melt down and panic. What to do?

I did as much research on the internet that I could. I found this forum which proved to be invaluuable. I also wrote an App to help me see what is going on and to help me make lifestyle changes.

Two months on and another (admittedly a bit early) blood test.

The result

HbA1c result 46
Kidney function 78 (%?)
TSA, PSA both good

The speculation is that the next blood test in 3 months time will show that all is ok.

My weight has also reduced to 72.3Kg (from a recorded high of 90.4Kg some time ago)

I am so pleased, espcially after all the panic, worry, changes.

However, food now tastes so good. I feel more fit, active, with some energy.

I think the NHS should give out gold stars!

So pleased for you as I remember you being very worried. Understandably! Hope your health continues to improve and you continue to enjoy your food 🙂

Gold stars all round with that change in a1c in a couple of months, congratulations

Yes well done @Gwynn

I bet people would like a gold star, I know I would. They need to give us a gold star if our levels improve or we lose weight or give up smoking. :D I know when I was at SlimLiners I'd feel really good if I got a cardboard medal. 😉

Oh well done. It you who deserves the gold star, so here is one from me.

Thats great thank you.

Well done @Gwynn 🙂

I know you mentioned your lifestyle/diet before along with the steroids as a cause of your diabetes, so it looks like you’ve made good changes. It’s unusual to be misdiagnosed as Type 1 - it’s normally the other way round, but at least you now have some answers and have got control of your diet through your precise app.

Congratulations on your great progress @Gwynn 🙂
