Hello,

Yesterday afternoon I should have gone to the hospital for a liver scan. It is one for which I have to fast for six hours prior and well before I was due to go I realised I would be well past meal time and knew I couldn't last.

They re-booked the appointment for 8.30 on monday morning. They won't keep me waiting so I should be able to eat around 9.15.

As I usually eat breakfast around 7.30 to 8 am is the extra hour or two likely to cause me a problem and if so is there a way I can eat more carbs Sunday evening before bed to keep me going.

Thanks very much,

Steve.

Good morning Keltic

Do you have any idea how much you drop your blood glucose level over night normally? If you do it would give you an idea for the size of a balanced late night snack/meal.

In terms of timing when you eat then how long do you normally go without food before your breakfast? With a bit of creative planning then you may get away with simply adjusting your meal times gradually throughout Sunday if you want to avoid extra food for weight control reasons but personally I would still err on the side of an extra snack before bed

Given how good your blood glucose levels have been (from your other posts) going to bed higher than usual as a one off then I'd have thought is unlikely to cause you major problems

Good luck with the scan - hope it all goes well for you

Hello Vanessa

Thanks very much for that.

I will try through today to sort out my meal times a little then perhaps have some toast or oats just before bed. I think from what I read either of those two would give me a slower longer effect which should work. The last morning readings were 7.1 and 6.7 so I suppose I have some flexability.

Thanks again,

Steve.

cant give any advice but hope the scan goes well x

Can't add any more, but good luck for the scan. I hope it all goes well and you get good results.

Thanks

Thanks Steff and Caroline.

I will certainly feel happier when its all over and I come away from there.

The scan isn't the worry it's the waiting for the results.

Thanks again,

Steve

Hello Heidi

Hello,

Thanks very much for your message Heidi, knowing that people care really helps a lot.

You live in a beautiful county, especially when the weather is as good as this.

Steve.

We all feel the same, it's not the tests and the scans, it's the waiting afterwards. It gets everyone at some point. I'm like it with interviews too, the interview is OK, but waiting to see if I got the job or not afterwards is a bugger!
