I think I may have IBS, as I have been suffering for some time now. Reading up on it, I want to try more soluble foods in my diet. My problem is, I eat a lot of fruit and veg.
Reading online, some say avoid things like bananas whilst others promote them.
At the moment I'm on a fruit and veg diet (need to loose a bit of weight)
My daily diet is
Breakfast: 1 banana, 1 Satsuma
Lunch: sliced carrot, 2 bananas, 1 apple and 1 Satsuma
Dinner: Plate of various veg (Brussels, cabbage, broccoli kind of stuff)
this is really flaring things up (but is brilliant for my D, every cloud and all that)
if any of you have IBS, what fruit and veg do you find agrees with you?

Were you on this diet before the IBS symptoms started? Or is it simply the excess of fibre that's doing it? You have to drink more water with high fibre otherwise 'it' all gets compacted and bunged up, the wind is trapped, can't escape and if you ever wanted to know what it must feel like to pass one of those medieval 'spiked iron ball' weapons, take a seat and find out …….

Yes, I've been like it for some time now, but didn't think anything of it, thought it was just me. This diet has just made it worse. I've always been a good boy with eating fruit and veg, for years I've had fruit with lunch, so its not like I'm not used to the fibre, just not this much.

It's probably completely different, but FWIW ... I got hopelessly constipated for a while when I went higher-fibre last year. It was great for BG but not good for the interior flow! I was drinking lots of water and walking quite a bit, so the usual suspects weren't in play. I experimented with dropping meds, taking probiotics, harassing doctor, praying to strange gods etc etc, but nothing worked for weeks.

Then things seemed to resolve themselves & it got better, for no apparent reason. As I say, just FWIW.

I might have two Bananas a year if I am lucky. Now veg I like good luck Megga

Walnuts - I have a bag of salad, coleslaw, tomato any other salad stuff in the fridge and a good handful of walnuts. Works every time I feel a bit lacking - I eat a diet which is low residue most of the time.

You can change the taste of things if you think about it. Well done Drummer🙂

To add insult to injury, just weighed myself, I've gained 2 pounds :-0
I have been exercising more this week, absolutely starving, no fats, only carbs that are in fruit, and I've managed to gain weight.
Think I might go on a beer, chips and pie diet, I might loose weight then

On the plus side, the highest my BS have been is 9, and I'm only taking around 2 units of insulin a day

Ah - that would not work for me - I eat fats to keep my metabolism in fat burning mode, the carbs in fruit are still carbs - so you are starving hungry all the time and so eat more. Nothing works better than a high carb meal to give you an appetite for the next one.
