So upset:(

If you are a union member than you will be absolutely entitled to be accompanied by a rep, if not then you may be but it's a bit late now if the meeting is on Monday. The best thing you can do is try to relax, both tomorrow and especially on Monday. I know this is easier said than done but try your best to be positive, assume that they want to keep you in post. Really, whatever the outcome is, it isn't the end of the world and you will find a way forward.

As someone who has been on both sides of the desk in this process, the person opposite you will likely also be feeling horrid about all of this, and they likely have to do several meetings on the same day.

To be clear, I'm not saying that to shame you for what you are feeling, but to say the whole situation is a no-win time.

For today, if you have weather like here, try to spend some time outside. It's amazing what sunshine can do for the body and spirit.

Whatever happens tomorrow, it's the beginning of a new phase of life for you, and that brings opportunities.

If you are selected to stay, it sounds like you will be part of a smaller team, but likely given a bit more responsibility, if the job carries it. That offers up opportunities for personal growth.

If things don't go your way, I'd urge you to take time and space to consider your options. Sometimes it can be a catalyst for change, or if you have been with your present employer a long time, you may receive a bit of cash that could mean you can have a bit of time off to heal from the process.

In my last job, I had to make a lot of folks redundant and then become redundant myself. I was the "last man out, putting off the lights" in that part of the company, so I do get how rotten this time is, but just take one day at a time.

Tough times don't last. They pass, and better things come along.
