WARNING ARE YOU DIABETIC IF SO READ ON AND IF NOT STILL SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS. CHECK ALL HANDWASHES
It's a normal practice to wash hand when testing sugar levels each day. using handwash is a normal everyday thing but be warned. I purchased this handwash for everyone in my household looked ok and thought it smelled nice and is aimed at kids. and it gave my daughter unusual higher readings
Normally people check labels if they have known allergies but you would never check a product for traces of sugar/sweetener whatever chemicals or anything considered to interfere with levels unless you were eating it.
This product contains products that create higher sugar level readings . and gives false positive /incorrect high blood sugar readings after using to wash hands before testing of blood prick...... don't believe me research the ingredients yourself.. and if your diabetic test it yourself

choose your products wisely. not screaming don't buy it but consider what incorrect blood readings would mean for a diabetic.. ..

Like so many things that get posted on the net, so much is bs but there is always a tad bit of truth out there. Would appreciate some feedback on this. CUSSONS Fun Edition Starwberry Laces. Thanks

From what I can tell this is not true.

There is no glucose in the soap, the label mentions only an ingredient that begins ‘glu...’ but isn’t anything to do with glucose.

This from a supermarket listing:

Ingredients
Aqua, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Chloride, Glycerin, Polyquaternium-7, Parfum, Sodium Benzoate, Lactic Acid, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate, Benzotriazolyl Dodecyl p-Cresol, CI 17201

"Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate" sounds a bit like monosodium glutamate. a savoury chemical which occurs naturally in edible seaweed and in soy sauce which has been naturally brewed (a high-quality brand such as Kikkoman's).

You, know I think there is SOME liquid handwashes I’ve used in the past that seemed to elevate my blood sugar readings. So, I’d wash my hands again & get an even higher reading! I once did this 3 times, getting higer readings each time so, stopped. When I washed my hands the next time for another reading at a later meal, I used a plain bar of soap & my readings were ok! I still use liquid hand soaps, they’re gentler on the skin, but, use a plain bar of soap before I test!

I have wet wipes in my testing kit, for out & about, but, not alcohol ones! Alcohol in wipes can falsely give a lower reading if there’s still redsidue left on the skin when you test! I use Dia Wipes available on the DUK online shop in individual packs of 25 in each pack or buy packs in bulk from amazon.

I was told on my DAFNE course NOT to use soap before testing. I must admit I do as I have a phobia about dirty hands and don’t feel clean if I don’t use soap. I think the trick is to rinse thoroughly. FB is great most of the time but sometimes it scares the bejusus out of folks. I also got shared this but ignored it as I do 99% of the c**p posted! 🙂

I was told the same,
I don’t bodge my fingers much nowadays but depending on what I’ve bedn doing , when I do bodge I don’t always rinse my hands.

Quite a lot of soaps can contains glycerol. As a few of you have mentioned, the advice to people is that they wash their hands, rinse them and dry them thoroughly before checking their blood glucose level. Following this advice should minimise any inaccuracies due to any ingredient found in soap.

The CI 12701 mentioned in Mike’s ingredient list, in case you were wondering, is an azo dye.

Some azo dyes are known carcinogens. CI 12701 isn’t one of them. It’s perfectly safe. (That’s for the inveterate Googlers of crank websites)🙄

Best thing on Facebook is that article about cucumber being the wonder cure for everything including diabetes 🙄 Think we would all know about that!

I always wash my hands and rinse thoroughly before testing - I once tested with traces of Aloe Vera gel on my fingers and was surprised (when feeling low) to get a reading of 11.2. Re-tested and was even more surprised - and suspicious! - when I got an identical second reading of 11.2. Washed my hands thoroughly, making sure I got rid of all traces of the Aloe Vera gel, and got a much lower reading which matched how I felt!

I use a Libre. Fitted this morning after a shower, rinsed and dried, and rubbed the site with the supplied alcohol wipes. Repeat in 2 weeks.

If I washed my hands as often as I check the Libre, folk would think I’ve got OCD.

Oooh haven't we moved on? In 'my' day twas Cinnamon that cured all esp T2. I must have made tons of bread pudding with plenty of cinnamon and nutmeg, but it never cured my T1 …….

I've also eaten miles of cucumber (and I presume kilometres whilst on holiday abroad) over the last 46 years; ditto !

Cucumber is one of my favourite things on the planet. Jemima is the same. Mum said it was great for teething so I used it for her and it worked, she’s loved it since. It’s also true fact that it works ha!

I had cucumber, so I have no chance of a cure! Oh dear! 😉

My granddaughter who is the fount of all knowledge about food !! Tells me not t eat cucumber because I use up more calories eating it than it gives me !
I am a skinny type 2 trying to put on weight
