Some might remember that when my partner passed away while in hospital i was told tee had contracted the virus while in there but yet after the death was registered and on the day of the funeral i received a hospital letter claiming that tee had gone in to hospital with the virus so basically someone somehwere was lying.

some thought at the time that i was distressed and reading the letter wrong. the problem with this is that tee had been in hospital for at least 2 weeks before even been tested and i do know that i saw the positive testing date which is why i telephoned the ward.

the problem is if tee had gone in to hospital and was positive then at no time did anybody contact me or anyone else to isolate and just think of how many people could of been put at risk.

roll on i contacted public health and was shocked to find that what had happened to me of not been notified was common across the country within hospitals not following protocols. this does not stand looking at.

public health have given me an email address as they want to investigate what has gone on as once a death is registered the hospital cannot just change things for their own likings. if there was a problem then they should of informed the coroner.

what is worse tee was in hospital for nearly a month for 2 weeks was on a non covid bay so why so long before testing? the risks to myself could of been real nasty. as far as i was concerned i didn't have any concerns for those 2 weeks. i was concerned about tee contracting the virus in hospital but even then still hadn't any real concerns that my own safety had been put in jepoardy. just doesn't stand looking at.

email has now been done so will see what does come of it.

Sorry you are going through this at such a difficult time. My father died in October after contracting Covid in hospital. He had been in 7 days when he had his test, after he told us he had tested positive I immediately phoned the ward to ask whether my mum (84), should have a test, isolate etc, the nurse at the time told me that they considered it hospital acquired Covid as they had had an outbreak on the ward and dad was one of 8 patients who had tested positive, starting with a patient testing positive 4 days before the other patients. Next day a doctor phoned me to check that I knew that dad had tested positive, update me on his condition and confirmed he considered it hospital acquired, and no wider concerns about my mum either being tested or isolating.

Fast forward to January when I received a letter in response to my complaint that dad's mobile was used by staff to call me to ask me to collect his belongings when I hadn't been informed that dad had passed away. In that letter they said that despite me dad having 2 negative tests prior to testing positive that he must of had it when he was admitted to hospital. So like you I m annoyed that they didn't tell my mum to isolate or test as they live in a retirement complex with a shared laundry room. Hospital claim that I was called to tell me dad had passed and no mention of using my dad's mobile, so feel like they are calling me a liar.

I feel so sad that you are now having a similar experience.

I am not angry at the care dad received in hospital from the hard working staff, but the inconsistences.

This practice of hospitals trying to exclude the possibility of hopsital acquired Covid to make their figures look better is a known thing. (I hate quoting the Daily Fail, but this was the only report I could find that wasn’t behind a paywall, and it has been reported in other papers too.)

as far as i am aware the hospital staff did the very best for Tee right up to the end and they even sent me some forget me knots which was kind of them all to be ruined by someone else in the hospital.
Granny so sorry for your loss it is so so hard.

Robin after the above happened i got up early one morning and put the internet news on for some reason and saw the article which stunned me. this was backed up by public health England yesterday.

If i get a little bit of justice for Tee then it will be better than nothing and give me some relief. will see how things pan out with it over the weeks.

this situation going on though with hospitals around the country is disturbing to say the least and i feel sorry for people who are in similiar situations.

Sorry to hear about this @mikeydt1

Hope you get a satisfactory outcome from your email.

Condolences for your loss @Grannylorraine :(

It’s been a tough time for lots of folks.

well surprise surprise after sending a complaint email after a month the hospital are telephoning me later today. one thing i am not prepared to let them try and run circles all over me. they have caused so much unessessary distress and not that put my own life and people around me at risk by not following procedures.
