I have been a diabetic type 1 for over 54 years always,on insulin ,have not had a lot of contact with other diabetics. Went on daffny day coarse was the first chance to ask others if feelings were shared the panic when in hypo the over eating to get back level.I was surprised to find a lot of feelings were shared. What I would like to know is if anyone has the same response to rapid insulin injections of sneezing several times. Blood level is normally on the lower side when this happens

Welcome to the forum @Richard Irwin

Well done on your amazing 54 years - did you get a DUK 50 year medal?

You must have seen all manner of changes in your time!

I‘ve not heard of the sneezing experience before... though I do often sneeze in sunlight (especially when it flickers!) so I would think anything is possible :D

Welcome @Richard Irwin! Similar to you, the DAFNE course was the first time I had ever met anyone else with Type 1 and it's great to find other people who share your experiences with diabetes. I can't help you on the sneezing front I'm afraid but hopefully someone on the forum can 🙂

Not heard of that before I have to say. Has this always happened since they invented MDI? With different brands of different fast actings?

Hi no this has gone on for some years but does not seem to happen if bloods are a little high. Have only known one other diabetic which had something similar but he said it was a sign for requirement of insulin.

Yes. I am experiencing the same.
I've only recently started taking Novomix.
Happened yesterday and today as well. I looked up "sneezing insulin" a moment ago and found your post. It is like 5-8 sneezes about 5 minutes after taking a 10unit dose of it.

I just find it weird when two Type 1 diabetics say they are using Novomix, to be honest - esp @Danny99 having 'recently been started on it'. No way has mixed insulin been even suggested as suitable for Type1 diabetes since the Type 1 NICE Guidelines became public property.

Welcome @Danny99 How weird! I wonder if it’s the insulin itself or something different. Silly question but have you tried going through the whole injection procedure but not actually injecting? That is, act exactly as you do when you inject, but at the end just stick the needle in but don’t inject anything.

And do the sneezes happen wherever on your body you inject, or just certain body areas eg tummy?

How interesting @Danny99

Unfortunately, Richard hasn’t continued to post on the forum, so we can't ask for any updates or whether it is still happening for him.
