Morning All,
As I'm new to all of this ( 3 days in) can anyone recommend health snacks to take to work for break times?
Currently taking cashew nuts ( only nuts I like ) carrot and celery sticks but I can see myself getting a little bored with this by the end of the week, any ideas welcomed.
Hi Carol, unfortunately cashews are one if the highest carb nuts, I like the dry roasted lidl peanuts have you tried those? Could you make up tupperwares of small varied salads? I am a fan of low carb wraps which can be filled with cooked meats and cucumber, or peanut butter or ham and salad or egg mayo etc.
Low carb keto wraps that are high in protein and fibre. Perfect for diabetics or to aide weight loss. Manage blood sugar, keto friendly, lower calorie.

Really nice wraps, some would say expensive but I buy in bulk with bread and rolls on subscription which makes it cheaper.
Have you tried the kvarg protein yoghurt things, vanilla ones lovely with a few raspberries - tesco, 4 for £3.00.
Sadly the cheap high carb quick fill typical lunch time foods and snacks don't suit our condition.
Hi Carol,
A boiled egg or ham could be an alternative snack, yoghurt, apple slices with 3-5 grapes, cheese portion. But do check your personal preferences for any carb content to be sure these foods fit.
@Dave_Z1a is right about cashews, they're around 20% carbohydrate compared to, for example, peanuts (7%), pecans (6%) or walnuts (4%).
You could try nut bars like KIND, Nature Valley or Plants from Deliciously Ella. They usually include a dark chocolate coating. Carbohydrate content varies but many are around 10% or less.
I find walnuts too dry on their own so I have them with bite-sized pieces of apple.

Nature Valley Protein bars, Graze, KIND or shop own are approx 10g carbs per bar.
High protein yoghurt, Kvarg deserts, cheese, with your celery sticks.
But if you have filling meals then you may not need snacks.

Those KIND bars look yummy, but I am worried about cracking my teeth. Lovely dentist but rather stick to regular check ups. My go to snack bar is a tiny Bounce protein ball. Everyday.

The Nakd fruit and fibre bars are nice and they have a similar carb content to the Graze bars. Nakd also do fruit and nut bars, I've not checked those fully.
I'm new to this as well. I've bought some Graze snacks and was looking at Nature Valley earlier. Thought they'd be convenient if I'm out and hungry or if I'm going for coffee with others who are all eating yummy cake, then at least I've got something that's a better option. Also, thinking about getting some lower carb crackers and oat cakes, so I have an easy savory treat that I can add cheese/other to.
The Eat Natural protein bars are quite nice too. I got some to try as always been a fan of the Nature Valley peanut and chocolate protein bars, and the peanut and chocolate Eat Natural bars are just as well tolerated; in fact to me they are not as sweet as the Nature Valley bars - perfect if you have more of a savoury palate.
One or 2 squares of good quality dark chocolate (ideally 70% cocoa or higher) can also be quite satisfying. Providing you can stop at 2 squares! I tend to be a bit "take it or leave it" with regard to chocolate, so if I fancy some choc, this often does it for me.
