Can anyone suggest a snack bar type of thing I could have as breakfast? Up until I was diagnosed I had never eaten breakfast and I'm really struggling with having to eat 3 times a day now. Thanks xx

I was the same as you before diagnosis. I rarely had anything other than a coffee at breakfast. Now, it's usually a bowl of porridge. But I throw in different things from the following list ....

Nutmeg
Honey
Cinnamon
Raspberries
Banana
(Anything else I can find in the cupboard which is edible)

It just takes two minutes in the microwave.

As for snack bars, I always walk past where they are in the supermarket with a superior look on my face, so I can't advise I'm afraid. :D

Maybe but porridge sounds good I've not had that since I was little (smothered in sugar and golden syrup ahhhhh those were the days lol) would Ready Brek be the same?

I believe that Ready Brek is a more processed version of porridge so is likely to have a higher Glycemic Index and is more readily converted to glucose.

But on the other hand, porridge seems to affect some people quite badly on that score too. It's something that you're going to have to find out for yourself whether it causes a problem or not. It doesn't seem to cause me any problems though.

Ok looks like a trip to Sainsbury's tomorrow. Thanks Andy xx

I normally have porridge to my numbers seem okay after it as well

Ahhhh thats an easier option Northe thank you will get some today 🙂

I have Oats so Simple too only, being a Scot, I have mine with a pinch of salt and loads of black pepper. :D

Well I got me some Oatso simple today so guess whats for brekkie in the morning? Was a bit unsure what honey to get so I got some "light and mild" whatever that means. Have to say I've had 2 mornings now where I didn't take my metformin because I didn't eat (slap wrist) but back on track tomorrow. Oh and bs has been fine even though I didn't take the metformin so hopefully no (or at least very little) harm done.

Hope you enjoy it! 🙂

I did thanks Northe only thing I did find was not to use as much milk. I like my porridge to have the consistency of cement :D

Only one thing wrong with that caffeine................I'm a woman :D

Yes, I have Oatso Simple with a squeeze of honey 🙂 Co-op currently has it at ?1.09 for ten sachets - 11p a breakfast + milk!

lovely without the honey (I'm intollerant to it) and throw in some lovely fruit like blueberries, raspberries or blackberries.... totally yummy 😛
