Hi,

When I was first introduced to a smart meter in 2013 I was introduced to the Accu-check Aviva Expert Meter which I absolutely loved ~ this meter is going to be discontinued :(.

I'm now having to use the Accu-check Mobile Meter along with the Mysugr app ~ the Mysugr app gives me my advised insulin dose & any correction dose.

Which smart meter does anyone use please?
 
Why can't you still use the Accu-Chek Expert? The strips are still going to be available for it

Thank you for contacting Roche Diabetes Care.

The Accu-Chek Aviva Expert meter will shortly no longer be made by Roche however the Aviva test strips will continue to be available for years to come so there is no need for anyone who is currently using the Accu-Chek Aviva Expert to change to a new meter.

That was a response I had from Roche themselves when I enquired about them, the Aviva meter isn't being discontinued, only the Expert variant so the strips are still needed

I just use the expert meter. They aren’t going to stop making the strips so there’s no reason to stop using it.
 
They still make the Combo pump and the test kit that links with the pump uses the same strips so they will still be making them for a while. There should be no need to change to a different test kit until the old one stops working.
 
Yep - my new Combo pump and Expert meter with Bluetooth etc, to operate the pump remotely, needs to last me the next 5 years same as the old one did. So the strips bloomin well better be available !!

I’m not sure is Abbott still make the Insulinx? But that was their competitor to the Expert meter a few years back.

The Freestyle Libre handset offers bolus advice if you use the unlock code for ‘professional options’ which is easily found by a quick internet search.

In the meantime I would keep using your Expert meter, as the strips should remain available for a good while yet.
