My favourite memory of a camping holiday in Luxembourg was waiting for the baker's van at 7.30am delivering freshly baked croissants. MmmmmmIve never had a croissant this thread is tempting me to try one.
Way back in the 1970s I used an ordinary bread mix and a whole pack of butter to make croissants. It is like making puff pastry. Roll the dough out into a 12 inch diameter circle and cut into - I think it is 6 sections, then roll each one circumference to centre and allow to rise, then bake.Ive never had a croissant this thread is tempting me to try one.

I was working for Allied Lyons at the time and they did not have many people who had basic cooking skills working in development. The rest of the team were most impressed.
Now that is not too far away so we’ll worth calling in when we head that way.Riverford make the best croissants in the UK.
Glad it’s not just meI’d assumed they were separate dishes - a croissant with jam and butter then a refreshing fruit course. I’ve had Nutella on a croissant before and I’ve had croissants with savoury fillings but never @JonathanGi ‘s combo, which I now feel compelled to try once I find some GF croissants!
I wouldn’t have scones every day but they are an occasional treat, especially straight out of the oven with my Mum’s homemade raspberry jam. Clotted cream is a very very rare addition as I have all of the other ingredients in the cupboard so can bake them on a whim but the cream requires a supermarket crawl to find.Too much carb for me!
