This was going to be a (hopefully) humorous little post, but you never know...
Today is old age pension day.
Usual 07.45 5 mile run followed by an excellent breakfast of croissant (Riverford are the best), kiwi fruit (with hairy skin), mascarpone and 100% cocoa chocolate. Short walk with dog and then the mobile library. Sit on sunny window seat and read. Chop the vegetables for dinner. Share a bottle of claret. All small pleasures!
All went wrong today. Sensor failed in the wee small hours. Blood sugar fell (which usually wakes me up sweating but didn't). I still got up and carried the dog downstairs and prepared his breakfast. Usually getting out of bed puts my blood sugar up and up, but it didn't. So, I missed the run and subsequent breakfast. Library van didn't turn up!
I took the dog out and the bottle of claret will be opened in about 4 hours.
All is not lost! Or will the corkscrew fail?

Keeping fingers crossed your corkscrew holds up to the job and your day ends on a better note than it began.

Best laid plans and all that…

Seriously some days the world just seems out to get you!

Today. Parkrun. Usual long acting of 6.5. No breakfast and 1 unit of NovoRapid. Started at 4.4. Finished 25 minutes later (so not very quick) at 11.7. 4 units NovoRapid and 50 minutes later, delicious breakfast of croissant, kiwi fruit, mascarpone and 100%
So do you have Kiwi & mascarpone on a croissant!? Sorry, I know in the grand scheme of things this is very unimportant but it’s been bugging me since Thursday!

Glad it’s not just me :D I’d assumed they were separate dishes - a croissant with jam and butter then a refreshing fruit course. I’ve had Nutella on a croissant before and I’ve had croissants with savoury fillings but never @JonathanGi ‘s combo, which I now feel compelled to try once I find some GF croissants!

Could be some Heston Blumenthal business going on! Boiled croissants with mascarpone filled kiwis for all we know!? I need this cleared up! 😱

But where does the croissant come into it? Crumbled on top? Filled/topped with the sliced kiwi, chocolate and mascarpone?

Not a small pleasure but.....in my rapidly diminishing world I have noticed everything is getting bigger. Out on the bike this morning (the first lightweight ride of the year) I was overtaken by a Mini Countryman - it's as big as a 1950's bread van!

Crumbling a croissant is sacrilege unless it is a side effect of the eating.
I assumed the mascarpone, etc was a filling to the croissant. Some people fill their croissants with ham, some fill them with cheese (mmmmm Brie), some use jam and others use mascarpone, sliced kiwi fruit and coca nibs. Sounds delish.

Are croissants too carby for your diet or do you find the lashings of butter (I refuse to bake them myself because I have read the recipe and seen how many butter pats are included) slow down the BG rise?

Small pleasures todays was a trip to the pub on Indie sat in the garden. Will upload a piccy later Feeling rather self satisfied with self. The activates guy took me.

The croissant is whole. I slice some kiwi. A dollop of mascarpone. A sprinkling of 100% cocoa chocolate. I then attempt to stuff the croissant with the 3 other components - not always successful but it really doesn't matter!
Im drooling now
