Sleep apnea

My younger brother has sleep apnea and before getting a CPAP machine, his lack of proper sleep was leading to all sorts of issues, physical and mental. It made a huge difference to his health, although he can still be a pain in the neck.

That's exactly what younger siblings are FOR Graham.

I have always undertaken my duties of annoying my Big Sis very very seriously and diligently. I'm sure she'd agree with me.

My 'little' bother is the same, trouble! But then, as his 'big' sister, it's my duty to make his life a misery too, a job I take very seriously. :D

Any on suffer from this?? been told by my neurologist that he thinks i have this (various reasons) this is down to my OPMD. Just a bit worried as he said, if this is the case i may have to sleep with a mask on. I put up with illnesses (and they just seem to be growing) by just getting on with life, i'll look after them, but i find it very hard to cope when they are in my face, and wearing a mask, well i wouldn't cope. Is there any one of my fellow insulin addicts that has this, and what kind of treatment do you have????

I have used a sleep apnea mask, CPAP, for five years. It is worth the trouble to get one that suits the shape of your face perfectly, and to work out whether you need a humidifier with it. It depends on whether your nose dries out with a CPAP.

Now, I put the mask on, I go to sleep. My machine has travelled many times around the world with me, and somehow it is comforting and helps me to sleep in strange new places.

I am not worth knowing the next day if I don't have it.

I was diagnosed with OSA over 10 years ago and it actually saved my life! I was so anxious and snappy through lack of sleep, didn't function properly at all. Two nights after my first use of my CPAP machine and you could tell the difference. Mine comes with me on holiday and I use it when I have a siesta too. Nearly 3 years ago I was diagnosed type 2 diabetic and add that to the other things I've got wrong with me (all under control LOL!) I have a list as long as your arm! You just have to get on with it (OH has prostate cancer and tummy troubles too so its all hospital visits at moment) and just be positive.

Just thought i would enlighten you all, i have not been for the test and dont need to now as i thought i would try them sticky strips you put on your nose to stop you snoring, and they are working fine. I used to wake up choking with thick mucas all most every night and be tired in the day. The doctor just put this down to my OPMD and said my throat mussels are getting week, But my mrs said i always breath heavy (i just thought i was a passionate man lol) so i tried the strips, and they have worked a treat, as i'm not up in the night choking i'm not tired in the day. So all in all i'm very happy🙂🙂
