I'd have thought your experience with footy training will stand you in good stead ... maybe do what you'd do for that? The first session will probably be quite slow with stuff about how to stand up (!) fit your boots into the skis and so on. The afternoon might get a bit more energetic 🙂 Sounds fun

I was thinking just the same.

Plus I'd imaging there will be occasional snacking opportunities for some top-up carbs 🙂

Can't offer advice but hope it is an enjoyable experience.

Now admittedly I've only been to the Snowdome in Tamworth and admittedly I only tobogganed BUT you could take nothing whatever that wasn't in a pocket into the snowy part.

I think - because it's unfamiliar exercise and therefore more effort - I'd want to err on the side of caution. Reduce the prior meal bolus as per footer, then tell him to have a good old swig of Lucozade as the last thing he does before he leaves the locker room. (or lob a couple of dextrose in or whatever he carries)

Plus I'd have a word with the dome and ask em if the instructor would be prepared to carry H's meter or not? Personally with the amount of tumbles either caused by my ineptitude or other peoples, I wouldn't have wanted anything about my person that could dig in me, and with kids they are pretty likely to check they haven't, I'd have thought. You could ask if they are allowed anything in pockets?

I realise people who DO ski get over these things but then you'd purchase your skiwear specially to accommodate, wouldn't you?

Let him run a bit high and just enjoy it, is what I think.

TW-its the Tamworth one he is going to- small world eh!!.I rang this morning and they can leave a drink on the side - and he can carry-well in pocket blood kit or choose to give to the instructor do you think its best to give to the instructor how brakeable are the blood kits ?

They're quite robust, I've had a few falls when skiing!
How cold are these places ? That can cause a problem with the meter Normally when skiing they're better in a inside pocket closer to the skin.

That's a point Helen. Meters can be dodgy with temp and cold is much the same cold as an Alp but just no wind or patches of sunshine.

But do you want to fall on your meter in it's padded case in an inside pocket just level with your ribcage was what I was thinking. That's all.

maybe inside tracky bottoms -under ski trousers in case he cant get to the instructor if his water skiing skills are anything to go by
