My sugars have been all over the place for at least the last 6 months+ and apart from major hip surgery for some of that no-one seems to be able to work out why... but... I saw my consultant on Tues and she said that she thinks I should be doing my basal before bed and not in the morning - now I wasn't very keen on this as I'd prefer to get it out of the way in the morning and am less likely to forget, plus my hypos tend to be at night so this didn't make sense as surely my insulin would have been wearing off at night when I am going lowest. However, we are desperately wanting to start a family so I'm at the stage of almost trying anything I'm told to in order to get my hba1c below 7 (apart from a pump at the moment.) So I started injecting my glargine at night and low and behold yesterday and so far today my sugars have been bang on target (below 5.9 before meals and below 7.8 2 hrs after) apart from 11.6 last night! This is a minor miracle, as I have literally not had a day of good readings for months, and if it stays like this I will be doing happy dances 🙂 Just a bit scared to test now as I'm afraid the bubble will burst and this apparent simple solution is a fluke!!
Anyone else had a similar experience and sudden better control by just changing the time of your basal dose??
