Sickness bug

Sounds like you’re doing pretty well on the Medtronic! Could the overnight levels be related to evening meal? Or do you think the resistance is starting to kick in?

I moved over to the ypsopump a couple weeks ago and I like it so far. It’s definitely still learning and sometimes it’s doing things I just don’t understand but hoping that’ll iron out.

They started me a little higher to prevent hypos and that’s keeping me in range 74-80% of the time. But my consultant has told me she will be lowering my targets down to 4.5 mmol over the next couple weeks, which is freaking me out a bit to be honest!

Sounds like you're getting on with it really well, I'm so pleased for you.

My levels have been behaving more the last day or so, thank goodness! I thought it might be because I've been having my evening meal quite late in the evening, but also I had a virus at the beginning of the week so perhaps I was still getting over it. Hopefully my levels will stay good for a while now!

Glad that things have settled @Lauren

It is surprising how much impact a bug has on our levels. It shows how much a working pancreas does in making constant adjustments. Now it is our turn to think like a pancreas. I now find that I am forwardned of colds as I see the rise before I notice the symptoms.

Great to hear it’s settled! Fingers crossed it’ll stay that way! I’ve had an odd day today with levels ok but on the higher side.

I can always smell the faint smell of insulin with these cannulas which throws me. Whenever I smelled insulin on the Omnipod I knew something was wrong but here I’ve got no idea…I also changed my insulin cartridge today and used insulin I left in the car for like 20 mins…surely it can’t have deteriorated that fast!

If your insulin was in the car on a hot day it can deteriorated quickly and I wouldn’t chance it. If it has degraded it could work a bit but not as it usually does and can then cause confusion as results will be inconsistent. I wouldn’t chance it.

I was quite worried about it at one point, but I changed my cannula and it’s been much better since. There was a bit of bleeding so I reckon that must have caused some absorption issues.
