Hi All

I've been given antibiotics for a sinus infection and they've been making me feel quite ill. On top of that I managed to give myself & my BF food poisoning last night.

I've vomited a few times, but I have taken my levemir this morning. I'm sipping on water & a then a little lukozade, but not really managing to keep it down.

I will check my BG regularly today, is there anything else I should do?

Thanks
Pauline

OK, depending on type of antibiotics, you should take them on empty stomach (unlikely for sinus infection, assuming you mean nasal sinuses?) or with or after food (more likely), which makes feeling nauseous slightly less likely. Check with patient information leaflet, not just the sticker put on packet by pharmacist.

If you're not able to keep even water or Lucozade down, then try making up a sugar / salt solution - or get some oral rehydration sachets and make up according to instructions. See http://rehydrate.org/solutions/homemade.htm#recipe In the longer term, try to have some sachets and / or a measuring spoon http://www.talcuk.org/accessories/sugar-and-salt-measures-language-english.htm in stock at home.

Any worries, phone your GP or NHS Direct 0845 4647 (assuming you're in England - different numbers for equivalent services in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, but NHS Direct staff will inform you if appropriate) for advice.

Thanks for the information. I am able to tolerate sips of liquid at present. I am calling my GP later. 🙂
