Got all hot and bothered when I was in town earlier, the humidity up here is fierce just now, and took a shower when I got back. Five minutes later, as I got out to dry off, I almost passed out and ended up on the bathroom floor with no way of testing cos I didn't have my kit with me. When I eventually got back to my bedroom, I was 2.1 😱 and had to resort to toast and jam to get my BGs up again. I really didn't expect it as I was pretty high this morning and haven't been having that many bounces lately. I gave myself quite a scare. I'm OK now, but must remember to take my kit and jelly babies with me from now on.

Crikey!! 😱

That was a close call?

So sorry for you must have been awful x

Glad you managed to make it to the bedroom Alison, the completely unexpected ones are the worst and always seem to hit you when you are least prepared. Must admit, I don't take my test kit with me to the bathroom, perhaps I should!

Hope you are stable for the rest of the night 🙂

Sometimes you cant tell when its going to Bite ! Diabetics arnt suppose to go in saunas. Hope u ok ! 😉

Glad your ok, the shower is the last place I would expect a hypo and don't take my kit in with me let alone any treats. 😱

I didn't know diabetics weren't supposed to go in saunas. There's one at my gym and I've often thought 'when I have more time' but now I've been warned.

I think that as long as you are well controlled and have somewhere to store your jelly babies you should be OK in a sauna 🙂 Sometimes the high temperatures can cause insulin to be absorbed faster (for those that are on it), so it can lead to rapidly falling levels.

Sorry to hear about your episode Alison - glad to hear that you're better now.

My hypo awareness is a lot worse when I am in water, as i don't feel the warning signs . I don't ever have my testing kit in the bathroom but always make sure I shower before my husband leaves for work. If I'm on my own ill test beforehand.

Hope it doesn't happen again 🙂

I don't take stuff into the bathroom either - but I had a hypo after a bath yesterday so maybe we should all start having a few jelly babies to hand.

I've had more than one hypo in the bath! Not had one in the shower yet but I'm in and out in a few minutes as opposed to lounging in the bath (with wine!) for up to an hour.

The first time it happened I completely missed the signs as I assumed I was hot, sweaty and lightheaded from the bath until I tried to get out..... iirc that one was a sub 2 mmols delight by the time I had crawled out. Luckily living in a flat means I don't have far to go for goodies!

I do actually keep some glucotabs in the cupboard under the sink in the bathroom now!

Sorry to hear about this, it sounds horrible. I keep jelly babies in the bathroom, at the end of the bath, because it's where I go to test if I don't feel well during the night/early hours of the morning - I would much rather do this than wake Mark up with my testing
