Should I be worried

Hello all, I have type 2 and until last week all of my morning fasting numbers were around 5 and 6. This week they have gone up to 15 - 16, and I wake up in the morning feeling terribly thirsty and with a very dry mouth. Should I be worried? I take Forxiga (every morning) and Gliclazide (morning and afternoon). My diet remains unchanged.

Could you have a bug or infection? That sort of thing can affect levels.

Please be warned that high blood sugar can appear (and often does) two days before any other signs of bug type problems.

This may well be the case here! Take a look for "sick-day rules" on this site for more info!

Unfortunately 'sick day rules' apply more to Type 1's or those on insulin, neither of which applies to the poster of the question so those wouldn't really be of any use to them xx

Hi there 🙂 how are you feeling now? I'd be tempted to phone your local GP surgery and get an appointment to see about these unexplained higher levels you are experiencing, it could be a number of minor issues such as a cold coming on, a urine infection brewing etc but would definitely suggest your best getting seen to xx

I think I will monitor the levels twice a day for another week, and if no change will go to the GP.

When I first followed a link from the site it took me to a page which offered sick day rules for type 1 or sick day rules for type 11. Selecting type 1 (appropriate for me) enabled me to down load and then print a pdf file.

When I followed a link from a later posting it took me directly to the down load part of the site for the type 1 pdf. If you followed this link it may well have led you to believe that the rules were only available for type 1 which is not the case.

Sorry for causing this confusion.

There are numerous sites on the web which offer type 11 sick day advice and one that I looked at gave information for those controlled by diet only, controlled by diet and tablets, and for those using injections.
