Should I ask for an earlier review of meds?

After an hba1c of 102, the doc referred me to her Clinical Pharmacologist. I had 40 mg of gliclazide, twice daily, added to 2gms of daily metformin. After a few weeks, the Pharmacologist reviewed my number and added another 40mg of gliclazide to the evening dose. My numbers seem to have stabilised with somewhere between 8mmol and 10mmol first thing, slowly falling to around 5-5.8 before bed. Presently, the planning to review this again in Nov-Dec. Do you think it appropriate for me to ask for an earlier review with a view to adding another 40 mg of gliclazide to the morning dose or should I just be patient?

My concern is over the workload that GPS and their teams have at the moment.

If you can see a definite reduction in the numbers week by week - your meter can probably do that for you as it seems a standard feature, as long as you test to a regular pattern, then that ought to result in a lower Hba1c at whatever interval you get tested.
I seem to be an exception as fewer carbs each day did not lower my Hba1c, but it was already down to 42, so I was not all that concerned, just perplexed after a year of at least 10 gm of carbs fewer each day.

Hi Drummer, there was a steady reduction at first. I'm recording blood glucose, meds, food and weight externally on an android phone app. It now seems to have settled down and is not reducing any more, hence my question about an early review.

I could turn the screw on the diet though, that should keep my numbers coming down and accelerate the weight loss. I can probably do that a _little_ without suffering too much.

Yes, I'll do that regardless starting with dinner tonight.
