tonights dinner was thai prawn curry (brown basmati rice), with naan bread, followed by (*SMALL*) steamed sponge with nice low gi rhubarb and ginger, and custard.

my 1 hour reading was 10, and my 2 hr was 9.3...

I';m thinking I could have got away with it if I'd have skipped the naan....

Hi CD,

They are not awful levels - so dont worry - I hope you enjoyed it.🙂Bev

Dear cd,

As Bev says the levels were'nt too bad - you would certainly have got away with it if you had halved your carb intake! 😱

Regards Dodger

I had a naan bread too last night with my curry and my bg shot up to 9.5 after 1 hour, checked again 1 hour later and it was 7.1 so it had started to come down, bed time reading was 6.7 which I can live with.

That or the rice; actually, for me, definitely the rice. And the sponge...and the custard...🙂

I can handle naan, but not all those others with it. We had a supermarket chain here that used to advertise "it's the TOTAL of the tape that counts" referring to the cash-register printout tape. The same applies to meals and BGs: it's the total of the carb count that counts.

But hey look on the bright side. There's some ginger in there. That has to be good doesn't it?

To be serious though. As others have said, those numbers weren't too bad. As an occasional thing, I think you can relax about it.

Andy 🙂

Dad wondered if the ginger might have caused the high numbers!! :-D

Not too worried about it though - next time I might skip the naan.

Oh - and I may have to improve on my binging skills if I want to get a reading beyond 13.... 😛

I do low carb curries at home.

I don't have root vegetables or cream in them. I don't do the rice or naan any more. Still scrummy.🙂
