i was just wondering if anyone had this

i take 70/30 insulin it is a good buy at one of our chain stores here in state

but i have shortness of breath
i can not walk across the back yard about 150 yards one way i am huffing like i have been in a 10 mile race
my ribs are so sore it hurts to breath

has anyone else been thru this

i am talking to my gp to get this changed

i was just wondering about this side effect

Hi mary, sorry to hear this :( Is this something that you have been suffering long? Have you changed the type of insulin you use lately? I haven't heard of any side effect of insulin like this. What are your blood sugar levels like? If they are high, there is a possibility that you are producing ketones which can make you short of breath as the body tries to expel the ketones in the breath - that's the only think I can think of.

I hope all goes well with the GP. When I get short of breath it is a chest infection and is normally cleared up with a course of antibiotics from the doctor. I hope you feel better soon.
 
Hi, There are many things that could cause shortness of breath, so I would speak to your doctor.
It could be a chest infection or a result of high or rapidly fluctuating blood sugars.

I have had problems with breathing since starting on insulin, I found the mixed types I started on the worst, I then moved onto separate short and long acting insulins which improve things a bit. My doctor eventually told me that I had hyperventillation syndrome which I saw a physiotherapist for. I was basically over breathing which meant that when I tried to walk up the stairs at home I got breathless and had to take a break half way up! After a few weeks there was a big improvement and I now feel much better.

I still struggle with some things though, 1 flight of stairs is enough for me, walking after meals is very hard and housework gets too much for me sometimes. My doctor thinks this is due to anxiety and I am seeing someone about this soon but I am not convinced and still think it is something to do with my insulin
 
There any numbers of things it might be, but the only times I've felt like that I've had a chest infection like bronchitis. You should talk to your doctor as soon as possible.

it had me scared when i went into a store the other night and had to sit down twice before i could make it across the store
