Welcome to the forum @Deb RR and @Steph220 .

Deb, I would query your assertion that baked crisps are better than normal ones, I doubt if they are any lower carb, and it is the total carbs we need to reduce. I am also wondering what you mean by savoury items? Anything in pastry, the flour is the problem!

Ah thank you for that Steph I will have to look into that as I have had plenty of them since I started this new regime. Thank goodness for this website indeed, I meant like savoury biscuits and similar to that. I forget about the carbs all the time.
Thanks again.

Are you able to help me please does this packet reading tell mr the amount of sugar which I believe to be 1.9 or are the carbs 1.9 too. Am I getting this all wrong. I am beside myself.
I don’t understand

Yes, the media push the idea that diabetes is all about sugar, but it is all carbs, starches as well as sugars, that are the problem.

Ignore the traffic lights, they do not tell us what we need to know, you will usually find the total carbohydrate on the back.

Savoury biscuits can be better than sweet because they are often smaller - but only if you eat very few. The flour probably contributes more carbs than the sugar even in a sweet biscuit. Beware of biscuits labelled low sugar or reduced sugar, they are often higher carb than the standard version!

Keen bakers make low carb crackers/biscuits/cakes using things like flaxseed, ground almonds and coconut flour to replace standard flour.

The carbs for the item are 17.2g. Ignore the "of which sugars".

The carbs for that 'food' item are 68 percent - way over anything I would eat - the packet is 17.2gm of carbs, about half my daily intake - those, whatever they are, are not your friends.
