l would be very interested to hear if there are many shift workers on the message board what do you take to eat when at work?
 
I don't work shifts, but always pack my own lunch so I know what goes into it. If nobody comes back with shift-based ideas, I'll post some examples. What facilities for food storage/prep do you have at work?
 
No mess facilities so my latest thing to take to work is Nairn Oatcakes with chicken pieces from Marks&Spencers but li can be expensive everyday l have also tried Cous Cous the diabetes education course frightened me to death about fruit so l don't take fruit anymore like l said earlier its a pity that there is not something that fills you up not fattening not bad for you regarding the diabetes and is cheap,charliewatch.
 
Protein-based meals keep you feeling fuller for longer. If you get a wide-mouth flask, you can take soups/stews (preferably homemade, tastier and lower carb).

My own lunches are usually sandwich-based (2 slices of wholemeal from a small loaf) filled with meat, cheese or eggs and salad. Along with that I take a diet yogurt (most that are just called 'low fat' contain lots of sugar, so check the labels). I do take fruit - find out how each type affects you personally by testing.
 
I work shifts and rotate from days to nights

I tend to take food to work when I can (dependent on whether I make it to the supermarket or not!) For breakfast it's usually yoghurt and berries (I buy the massive tubes of yoghurt and frozen summer berries and take a portion) lunch is normally a salad with some sort of protein (lately prawns and smoked salmon but I over did it and have got really bored of it!) and dinner is something I can reheat that I have cooked at home in bulk (usually a stir fry but could be cottage pie or something like that that I have portioned up in advance) I work 13 hour days so I have 3 meals at work. I do tend to have low/non carb snacks which is usually something like mini babybel or peperami incase I get peckish!

On days where I rely on the canteen the choices are often pretty grim, especially at the weekend but it has to be done at times!
 
I work shifts and enjoy a variety of john west tuna salads with a yogurt and some fruit.
There are a few nice versions, French, Italian, Mediterranean but this Mexican one is lush
