Sharps Boxes

Logic would say there should be a standard policy across the country rather than people having to fight against 'local' systems. Looking on my council web site there is no specific arrangement.
I had a sharps box to get rid of as a one off and foolishly thought that taking it back to the hospital that had given it to me was the thing to do but no the pharmacy said they were not licenced to take them back. Tried the GP, local pharmacy still no dice. Ended up giving it to my daughter as the hospital pharmacy she works does take them. They found they had to as people were just leaving them around the site in corners which obviously was dangerous.
