Hi, I have been a type 1 diabetic for over 20 years. The doctor and nurse at my Diabetic clinic have said I should get the Freestyle libre, but I have a problem with the adhesive when I have had to have a heart monitor fitted. I get big red itchy welts where the monitors are fitted, and they are only fitted for 24 hours. The redness and itchiness stays for days. Does the adhesive on the Freestyle Libre give anyone the same problem ?

Hi @Peerielady , welcome to the forum. For some people it does but some have found workarounds and so are able to continue using them. Sorry I can’t remember what they use or who but I am sure you’ll get more replies soon.

Hi @Peerielady and welcome 🙂

After years of being generally ok with pump cannula and sensor adhesive I've started reacting badly to them - the best thing I've used so far that limits the itching are Skin-Tac barrier wipes , there are other barrier sprays such as Cavilon that other forum members have used. I hope you can find something to calm your skin down.

This is some previous threads about skin reactions to adhesives https://forum.diabetes.org.uk/boards/search/40236/?q=barrier+spray&o=date

If you look at the ouch reaction to tape thread that's in the link Flower provided you with I posted a link to order a sample of a barrier spray xx
