Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi all
just wondered whether anyone has any recommendations for films, programs, YouTube videos or information videos that would inspire and help others either type1 or type2 as I think this may help others to get information.

I thought this was pretty good when I first saw it:

Worcester Warriors full-back Chris Pennell was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when he was 19 years old - but that hasn't stopped him from a successful career in the sport that he loves.

In this exclusive insight into his world, Chris shows BBC Get Inspired's Katie Bailey how he deals with his diabetes throughout a normal day at the club and at home.

🙂

The jason fung YouTube vids changed my life.

Thanks for the suggestions Chris Pennall is a great inspiration it shows you can achieve most things with diabetes. amazing to see how little insulin he takes throughout the day as he is so active his long acting does all the work

will have to watch a bit of Jason Fung now and will report back

Just watched fixing dad and this film inspired me to start this thread but just wandering if the thread has the right heading to get more people to look and add comments

Would you prefer something like "Seeking inspirational films about living with diabetes"? Let a moderator know, and we'll change as you request.

Thanks that sound much better. if you could change it to that it would be fab. I also wanted it to give people a resource to find films and other media,

unless I am missing a thread that already exists??

All done! 🙂

Thanks @Northerner. I hope people will interpret "film" as any visual media. You only have to look at the series of names used by what is now Science and Media Museum in Bradford to see the issues! By the way, Tim Peake's return to earth capsule is in the foyer - a nice bonus to general exhibits and cinema, including IMAX.

Thank you copepod for organising that for me

There's lots on YouTube.

Also I watch anything and everything that comes up on tv. I liked Jonathan Maitland's Can Your Diet Defeat Diabetes and Obesity: The Post Mortem and Unreported World about the Samoan Islands that have a huge problem with diabetes/obesity. Maybe not so inspirational but certainly would put you off the carbs!

Thanks for that

How about the 'You can do this' project for T1?

I've also always rather liked this one for youngsters getting a T1 diagnosis - Diabetes Makes You Stronger
The same people make others too.

Lots of Team Novo Nordisk stuff on youtube or on their site.
