Had an eye test at Specsavers today and the photos worried me, there's a dark red shadow at the back of my left eye that wasn't there last time and I don't know what it is. I've call the clinic re screening and got an appointment for March 21st, only three months late although they did have me on the list for a letter soon. But I've thoroughly scared myself now.

On the plus side, they did their usual great job and I have new specs to collect on Friday, two pairs, one free and the other with a huge discount for the ESA, so total cost will be £48. Yay. They're really nice frames too.

Hi Alison sorry to this. What did the opticians say about it? When I go to Boots if they're at all concerned they either send me to eye casualty or say that they will write to my GP.

It was an assistant that wielded the machine after the basic tests were done. She said the optician will call if she has any concerns. I don't know what it was but it took up more than a quarter of the sphere at the back of my eye so fairly large and not solid, sort of like a thick fog.

Can you phone them first thing in the morning and insist that an optician tells you what it is? THats what I would do.

I'll try and remember, but the I'll be there on Friday anyway, may just wait and ask when I go in.

Umm, I spoke to an optician when I went to collect my specs and he took a minute to look at the pictures and he came back looking very serious and said "I don't know how to tell you this but..... it's an eyelash." He grinned at me. "A WHAT?"o_O I screeched, thinking "I've got an eyelash in my eyeball?"😱. "An eyelash" he said "You blinked when the flash went off and the big red blob is what the camera made of the movement".

I got my new specs and slunk out blushing. 😳🙄

Lol! Glad it's nothing serious :D

Phew! Glad the eyelash incident was diagnosed correctly without more panic 😉

I'm so glad that it wasn't anything serious.

Glad it's nothing serious.

Thanks everyone, I just feel both happy and embarrassed. I had a bit of a cry when I got home just out of sheer relief.

Don't be embarrassed about it.

Sorry you had to go through a few scary days but glad to hear everything's ok. Who would have thought it.

I'm happy and relieved for you 🙂 xx

Glad everything is ok xxxx
🙂

Thanks everybody.

Glad to hear your scare turned out to be an eyelash and nothing serious. Bet you were relieved.☺

Phew!

I might have been tempted to give him more than an eyelash in his eye.........

Really pleased there's no need for concern Alison. Our sight is so precious.

Oh Alison! {Hug}

A lesson to us all to ask questions straight away if we notice something that looks odd - so thank you for that!
