Hi there,
I'm new to the group. Been type 2 now for over 10 years. Try to control my bloods with a low carb diet and medication.

Hi and welcome

Welcome to the forum @Birchwood

How have things been going? Have you always been a low carber? Or was it something you discovered later on?

I discovered it about three years ago. Worked very well at first, but now my blood levels are creeping up. Mostly the early morning one, which I appear to have no control over.

Possibly Dawn Phenomenon (DP)? Where the body ‘fires up the burners’ so that you can leave your cave and snaffle a woolly mammoth for breakfast without having to eat first(!).

The liver can release stored glucose into the bloodstream. Sometimes this happens in the hours before waking, for others it is triggered as soon as their Feet Hit The Floor.

Some people find a low carb protein/fat snack before bed can help to keep their livers happy overnight. But it can be a thorny issue for many, and there isn’t always an easy fix :(

Hope you find a new balance between carbs, activity and meds that works for you in this phase of your BG juggling career.
