Say there was a cure...

A cure? I’ve pondered this before. Well yes please...no faffing around from me. I’d just grab my keys and go...somewhere...anywhere. No pastilles in my pockets, absolutely no handbag!

I would still eat a healthy balanced diet, as it’s food I enjoy, with a few extra treats thrown in with no thought...but I doubt these would be cake or anything over sweet as I just don’t like them that much and am usually quite disappointed...probably the treat would be a little more flexibility in when I eat..or don’t.

I imagine I would still test sugars from time to time, just to make sure this cure had worked and that might be a difficult habit to break. Exercise without any thought...no arm scanning...yay! Concerts...with just some money in my back pocket for a drink...yay.

Obviously I would hate my good fortune to mean the loss of jobs etc., but surely this is what all those people are working towards? So it would mean they'd succeeded in what they’d set out to achieve. Think of all the money the NHS would save too. Sadly there will still be other conditions for them to use their skills on.

Is it a blanket cure you’re thinking of Mike? If not can I be cheeky and say form the queue here?! 🙂🙂
That’s why I said I would be the trail run of it ha! I’m so ready for it

I would leap at it . I would thoroughly enjoy being able to be spontaneous again , no longer having to check that I had my diabetes kit with me and hypo treatments all round the house etc.

Oh the joy of being able to leave the house just with a small bag containing my keys, purse and Asthma inhaler.

I too am also rather fond of my feet, eyes and kidneys .

Would I go carb mad, no but it would sure be nice to have an occasional slice of New York cheesecake while out with friends without them doing their best not to say, should you be eating that
yes I’ve trained them well lol.

Leap at it for sure.
Whilst retaining my healthy habits. QUite happy to put NovoNordisk/Roche out of business except that if type 2 remained (a disease caused by food mainly and curable by this means too) they would have a growing customer base anyway.
My identity is NOT type 1 diabetes its just something I have to deal with.

Mike hasn't offered a cure for only Type 1 - he offered a cure for diabetes, so even those who have had cancerous bits of themselves removed would no longer be diabetic. And for heavens sake stop saying that about what causes Type 2.

My identity has never been diabetic either - given the choice I'd actually rather get rid of my seborrheic keratoses and grow longer eyelashes than my diabetes, please !

Sorry to upset you. I did say mainly type 2 MAINLY caused and cured by food by which I meant that it is a tragedy that better advice is not offered to both prevent type 2 and to reverse it and hence its complications. As s it is drug companies and food manufacturers profit from disease.
Interesting thought experiment but I suppose I was looking at it on a larger scale...

Yes i would take the cure i would be at the front of the Que ,I would probably be 2kg lighter without pump and belt glucose tabs libre sensor miaomiao transmitter plus the jacket i wear to carry it all,as for peoples jobs they are making a living of our illness , i read that Dexcom are worth 40billon dollars a loan,i am sure the workers would find work in other parts of the industry

Love it! lol
And about jobs you are quite right, why would anybody be disappointed about finding a cure and saving lives. There would be plenty of other areas in healthcare to work.

After all, it's more important to save lives than save jobs, businesses, education, mental health, families, social contact etc etc as we all know too well!

I would jump at it.

It would be lovely to be more spontaneous and not have to think about all the stuff we have to take with us. (I have kept my smaller handbags. No idea why.)

Our meals haven’t changed much from before diagnosis, apart from being a bit smaller which is no bad thing. I don’t think that would change.

All that time spent counting, checking, priming, would be available.
