Has anyone had experience of taking Diabetes stuff in hand luggage on a flight with Ryan Air?
Gathering together my cannulas, spare pump, Libre reader, test kit, jelly babies, insulin pens, ...
I have no room in my bag of their prescribed size for things like a purse, phone, ... if I stick to their one bag policy. With other companies they allow a second bag of medical stuff for no extra charge. Are Ryan Air the same? If I needed to do anything beforehand it is a bit late as we are already at the airport hotel ready for an early flight.

I am always reluctant to contact the airline beforehand about my pump as it caused endless hassle when I did this for a long haul to NZ. I ended up having to get a fit to travel letter from GP and was offered assistance on and off each flight!!!

Just had a quick Google, it looks like Ryanair are their usual selves when it comes to being accommodating.

Oops. I may find I have a problem tomorrow. I just assumed it would be the same as other airlines.
If I have to pay I will just have to do so, but with a bit of a rant about the unfairness of it all.
OH is very calm and will be there to smooth the way, or at least keep my BP down.

Do you have any garments with capacious pockets? There's no rule about stuffing as much as you can about your person! Obviously, for ease of getting through security, it's best if it's all in a bag, but security aren't concerned about airline rules, so maybe have a sort out in the departure lounge once through?

Now ther’s a practical solution.
I will see what I can do to reorganise things if they get stress about it

I've never had a problem with Ryanair but then I have contacted them in advance - never been charged and also got same extra hand luggage bag as other airlines used. May depend on who you meet at check in and how full flight is - but then again it is Ryanair! Love Robin's idea:D

Went through security with the usual claim that ‘others have been through with a pump’, and then another person who almost quoted the letter to the authorities verbatim and happily did a pat down.

Once through security, unloaded the bag of medical stuff into our other bags, and pockets.
Sailed through without a problem, observing others with bags a lot bigger than ours, and certainly bigger than the Fyan air allowance. All good and just back from an excellent evening in Krakow.

Thanks Robin.

Glad it worked out, and you had a good time.
I hate it when I see other people's massive bags, when I've been round mine with a tape measure and weighing scales. (Though on our last flight, Virgin was weighing all the hand luggage and making people take stuff out or put it in the hold.)

Carefull with that, I have had friends fall foul on the return journey. a cynic would suspect they deliberetly turn a blind eye on the way out so they can hit you for the excess on the way back knowing you have no choice where as on the way out it is easier to unload
