got a letter from my dr saying i need to make appointment with the diabteic nurse. rang them today and was told she is fully booked till middle of nov and to ring back in a few week . . rubbish

Frustrating, ubdoubtebly, but perhaps not an impossible situation.

Did letter say why doctor wanted you to see nurse? Do you mean GP / diabetes nurse at your GP surgery - or doctor and nurse at hospital clinic?

Either way, worth finding out if nurse works every day of week in diabetes role (often just 1 whole day or a half day a week), and even if they don't, could they fit you in for a diabetes appointment on a non-diabetes-clinic-day? Or, does doctor who wrote letter know about the delay and want to see you themselves before mid Nov?

Think I'd be inclined to go in and see them and say well here is the letter from the doctor, it must have been important for him to write.

As an aside last time I made an appoinmnt for a diabetic check withthe nurse they phoned later to say it was cancelled as the nurse was going on holiday. I said so you're telling me all three nurses will be away at the same time and they said yes ane we only have Dr Accountant (the not nice money saving doctor) on.

I suppose there's nothing wrong in having to wait 4 weeks. The only problem seems to be that they won't accept bookings now for then. I had a similar problem in my surgery a little while ago when they wouldn't log my appointment in because it was a little way into the future.

It's probably all down to useless IT systems and/or dodgy hitler type admin staff!!. 🙄

Andy 🙂

Stacey thats terrible but not ucommon I have the same bother everytime had it just recently made appt with nurse had to wait 3 weeks for that then i had to rebook another appt and have to wait 2 weeks, ive stopped ringing on the phone now and go in face to face.

Steff has a good point doing it face to face, it is harder for them to hide when you make an appointment because you can see what they are doing
